EVOLUTION AND HUMAN VALUES
This collection of essays by nine different authors explores the implications of evolution for morality. Did we evolve into immoral creatures, or are we naturally moral, our morality the product of evolution?
If we evolved, do we lack all morality, as some fear? Many who express such fears have little knowledge of evolution, and often distort the knowledge they do have. Here nine experts on human evolution say our evolution has, indeed, affected our moral nature, but in a multitude of ways. They discuss the pitfalls and prospects of human evolution for our morality, our difference from other animals, the relationship between religion and morality, and the effects of our knowledge of our own evolution on social policy. Dr. Williams coedited this volume with the late Robert Wesson.
